Voiscan: Handheld scanner, multilingual speaker
The Voiscan is a very nifty looking gadget that uses the old Hewlett-Packard CapShare technology to scan text, and then read it back you you in ANY language that you select.
It will be released next year and although it is probably going to be targeted at the visually impaired and travelers I reckon that there is a huge market of ‘lazy sods’ (like me) that would just love to “wave the cellphone-sized device over the text” and sit back with a coffee and have the Spanish newspaper read to me in the morning!
Me wants one I think!
