Verizon settles after terminating ‘unlimited’ access users
Verizon Wireless had been disconnecting their users with unlimited data plans for excess usage. As part of the settlement Verizon has agreed to compensate the terminated users for the laptop cards or laptop-connected cellphones they had purchased. That will cost around $1 million; in addition Verizon also has to pay $150,000 in penalties and costs to New York state. Verizon has now states that they have the right to terminate the users subscriptions if they do continuous streaming of audio or video and P2P file sharing which would likely exceed 5GB of traffic per month.
