Circuit City 24/$24 pickup guarantee, now you try to get there
So Circuit City challenged us to take their 24/$24 pickup guarantee. Both Doug and I, in our respective states had a chance to order products online at CircuitCity.com and choose the in-store pickup option. The deal is that they guarantee that your product will be ready at their customer service pickup desk within 24 minutes or you get a $24 giftcard. Easy as that…or is it?
For me the guarantee didn’t mean much. I live in the big NYC and as they say, it is big. I am only 10 blocks away from the closest CC location, but with waiting at lights, traffic, and the crowds of people getting into store it takes more that 24 min. What is a guarantee good for if it is unrealistic from the beginning? Doug on the other hand had no trouble getting to the store in time but once there he had a nice long wait on the customer service line, pushing the time over the edge. Even if the product wasn’t ready in 24 min before, it certainly is past that by now.
Regardless the concept and customer service tied to it is a good one (I just wish the in-store employee customer service was that good – the audio/camera section clerk did not even know what the Zune was nor could anyone unlock the case and get one). CC is not only offering a way to save on shipping costs but paying you a bit when they slip up, not to shabby. So what’s the fine print…
To get your items you must have:
- A printed version of the order conformation email (what if you are ordering a printer?)
- Photo identification (a valid state-issued ID or driver’s license)
- The credit card used to make this purchase (if applicable)
- An yourself — no one can pickup your order for you
They will also hold your order for the 14 days, in case you can’t make it in right away but then you don’t get to put them to the 24 minute test.
Have you done? Did you make it in time? Did they?
